I aimed to create a piece that reflects nature as an abstract/detailed textile art piece.
It is a piece which can be seen as simple colour blocks from a distance but contain lots of details embellished on the surface, which can only be seen when it is looked at closely like trivial beautiful things around us.
I put my prayer on the piece to heal the relationship between humans and nature by recalling the knowledge and customs we already have, to live with nature.
Nature needs
to be cured…the title decided as “Remedy”
to be mended…using the mending and repairing technique which is commonly used on household textile
to be balanced…the cross mark represents balance (land and the sky), and red and blue colours represent balance in East Asian traditional culture.
to be embraced…get inspiration from wrapping culture over the world (e.g. Korean Bojagi patchwork, Japanese Furoshiki and Victorian puzzle purse)
*All the materials I used are sustainably produced and biodegradable.
*The coloured threads are naturally dyed (Blue is dyed with indigo and pink is dyed with madder. Both are known as dyestuff which is good for health).
